Real Estate News at a Glance - Foreclosure-Support.com

Over the last few years, "foreclosures" and "short sales" have been frequently used terms when referring to the United States real estate market.

Real Estate News

For example, when struggling homeowners are facing the possibility of foreclosure they may opt for a short sale (if the lender agrees) in order to avoid foreclosure.

Similarly, when it comes to real estate investing both short sales and foreclosures provide some incredible investment opportunities for potential homebuyers as well as investors?opportunities that still very much exist today.

To get the best out of these investment opportunities, it is essential to stay up-to-date on recent real estate news.

So, let's briefly take a look at what's going on in the real estate market.

Invest in Cities with Jobs

If you are currently looking to purchase a foreclosure property as your primary residence, then you may wish to consider a city with a decent job market. According to CNN, Loudoun County, Virginia has experienced a 83.6% job growth from 2000-2011. Fort Bend County, Texas comes in a close second with a 78.1% job growth for the same period of time.

Investors Focus on College Towns

Over the last few years, foreclosure properties have been hot investment items, especially over the last few months with positive signs of real estate market progress. Now, the new trend seems to be investing in properties that are located in college towns.

The idea is for investors (and even parents) to purchase discounted properties (due to the low home prices) and take advantage of the incredibly low interest rates in an effort to make a profit. By purchasing a discounted property in a college town and renting out each room in the home, investors can immediately start to see a return on their investment.

An Increase in Home Resales

According to the Wall Street Journal, home resales are up 10.4% in July 2012 in comparison to July 2011 ? pointing to an improving real estate market. Condominium sales increased 14%, while single-family home sales rose 9.9%.

Morris Brown College Faces Foreclosure

Morris Brown College ? a private college in Atlanta, Georgia ? is facing foreclosure with the auction date being set to September 4. The college is struggling financially, with a current enrollment of a mere 50 students.

In short, the current real estate market lends itself to a high number of foreclosure properties while at the same time boasting rising home prices and increasing resale rates ? both showing significant signs of progress toward recovery.
