Uloop News ? More Free Activities For Long-Distance Couples

?

In my previous article, Free Activities for Long-Distance Couples, I discussed ways for long-distance partners to avoid relationship boredom through shared online experiences. If you both would enjoy more intellectual and creative options, try some of these mentally engaging activities:

1.?Surveys and Quizzes: Look for surveys with unconventional questions that you would never think to ask, such as, ?What are your favorite smells?? or ?What are your biggest pet peeves?? Take relationship quizzes. Or, do something a little more unique: Harvard researchers created Project Implicit, a series of short tests that allow you to discover your personal inclinations toward or against particular groups.

2.?Trivia: Sporcle has a vast number of ?mentally stimulating diversions? in every topic, from the periodic table to the NFL. Quiz one another to test your knowledge or compete to see who?s got the brains in the relationship.

3. Learn a new skill: Look up tutorials on how to juggle, make origami, or spin pens through your fingers. Take time every day or every week to practice together. Pick up a new language and hone in on your speaking abilities. Try teaching your partner some skills that you?ve already mastered.

4.?Read: Reading does not necessarily entail three-hundred-page novels? you can read about the latest court cases and political debates, or skim through humorous lists such as ?6 Real People With Mind-Blowing Mutant Superpowers.?? ?Research questions that you?ve always been curious about: ?Why are yawns contagious?? ?Do bees poop in their honey?? (See The Straight Dope). Take turns reading aloud and sharing the best bits of information.

5.?Write a story: Through Google Docs, you can both simultaneously edit the same text document. Use this free program to collaborate on a story, whether it is a silly improvised piece or a clever novella worthy of being published. If you really enjoy creative writing, try your hand at story role-playing.

6.?Plan: Create itineraries for future meetings together with Google Docs. Find events and activities to do in your area. Look at places that you would both love to travel to. You could even create a countdown to keep track of the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until your next reunion.

The physical distance in your relationship may be difficult to overcome, but finding new ways to connect with your partner can help bridge the emotional distance.
